The MXL Hammerwald is another blaster in a cyber-future where german trains run on time, no matter what. This is the heavy armament that is given to guards stationed on top of trains or at supply depots, where line of sight is typically greater.
This blaster entered service in 2392 as a means to soften the approaching forces (“frost bugs”, as they are commonly referred to by staff) before they have a chance to board or even stop the trains. For deployment inside of cabins or stations the snub-nosed variant was soon added, after reports of train guards sawing off the barrel of their blaster for portability reasons became common.
Mechanically speaking, this is a Nerf-compatible pump-action flywheel blaster that uses custom Mega XL and quad elite shells. The pump feeds a new shell into the breech and ejects the previous one. The standard magazine can hold 6 shells. Shells come in two variants: Mega XL and Quad Elite. The latter can hold 4 elite darts and fire them all together, similar to the Rail Cleaner/Schienenräumung.
The blaster has a separate rev-trigger that is attached to the front of the firing trigger, for that controllable dual-stage trigger feeling.
A 3S LiPo can power the whole thing. The battery is not included. You’ll need to have your own 3S LiPo that can take at least 60A stall current. The LiPo goes into a compartment in the stock of the blaster (left side), for balance reasons. Inserted into the top of the blaster is a small voltage meter.
It fires about 20 meter in a straight line, and 30 meter at an angle. By default the MXL Hammerwald uses FTW Merlins or OoD Lokis for flywheel motors. The wheels are Wurstwalzen (made by Fetteworst), same as the Rail Cleaner/Schienenräumung. They’re pretty hefty, so the motors need to have some torque.
All parts can be printed on a bed of 220mm edge length. Most of them even on something with 180mm edge length.

That will also let you know what hardware you’ll need. Yes, there will be soldering and crimping.

Changelog
v1.1:
– Updated the snub barrel, so it fits better into the front of the blaster.
v1.2
– Added the missing main color piece “Power Switch Holder.stl” to the file set. Sorry about that.
– Put the version-specific files into their respective subfolders.
– Modified the magwell and pusher to have a little extra connective space, to prevent the pusher from popping out when too much force is applied during the back-stroke of the pump.
– Added a little more magazine-guidance to the magwell. That should make it easier to slide the magazine in.
– Added a little sight window to the magwell, so you can tell from the top if there’s still a shell in there. Not strictly necessary, given the clearance of the magwell, but can be useful at times.
1.3
– Added front slingpoint
– Oriented all files into their default printing orientations, for convenience.
