Schienenräumung 3S v1.1 – A quad shell shotgun blaster

9.00

A nerf-dart compatible flywheel blaster that fires 4 darts at once, from shells.

The Schienenräumung, or „Rail Cleaner“, is a needlessly complicated german löre-friendly name to indicate a cyber-future where german trains run on time, no matter what. This type of blaster is used by many train guards as their primary firearm. According to them it allows them some “slop” when fighting the many dangers their train can encounter, while it makes its way through the snow-driven wasteland to the next bastion of humanity. The blaster was first introduced to train forces in 2396, as alternative option to the Motortier SMG. There have been roughly 4% less schedule interruptions since then.

Mechanically speaking, this is a nerf-dart compatible blaster that fires 4 darts at once, from shells. The cylinder flips out to the side and can hold 6 shells in total. It has a hammer, that when cocked, revs up the flywheels and rotates the cylinder into position. It can be fully used with one hand.

The blaster has a firing distance of 12 to 17 meter flat, and about 20 at an angle. It does depend on your darts, though. I only tried standard elites and akkufakes.

The Rail Cleaner is designed to be powered by a 3S LiPo and houses 2 motors with 130 form factor. 180 works, too.
The LiPo goes into a compartment in the back of the blaster, for balance reasons. You can insert a voltage alarm into the top of the blaster during construction, to plug your LiPo into.

All parts can be printed on a bed of 220x220x220 mm size.

v???

– Lots of beta testing, internal and external.

v1.0
– I figured out a sensible versioning scheme.

v1.1
– Removed the need for 4mm rods and replaced most of those places with M3 screws.
– Removed the need for springs in various length and types and replaced those with rubber tubes and zip ties.
– Removed the need for M3x25mm screws. Now it uses “just” 4 lengths of M3 screws.
– Fixed some internal oddities in the blaster geometry, for overall sturdiness and ease of assembly.
